Hey Iota! I’m Alina and this is my first blog post as JA! I’m serving as this upcoming year’s historian and I’m so excited to serve y’all!

Not much has happened since I got home, so I thought I should recap how this past semester was after crossing.

To be honest, I had a lot of doubts. I thought my life would remain the same. I thought I would still walk through the BSB unnoticed and spend my afternoons bored out of my mind after I was done with my assignments. I had very little knowledge of what sororities of any kind were like.

I was scared about what the future held.

Picture
I got close to some of the most amazing, diverse cast of people I have ever found. I have been grateful for having two of the best bigs a sister could ask for! They helped me out so much during MEP with food, baking, studying, life advice, and MEP in general! These two are extraordinary! :D
Picture
The girls in my MC class are amazing! Both of them are extremely caring, diligent, and humorous! During MEP, they made me laugh every day I was with them! These two did so much for MEP, and not seeing them for months felt like the strangest thing in the world to me. Reuniting with them during formal made everything feel right again!

I miss seeing them so much! :(
Picture
The Kappa Kappa Psis are also pretty cool too! When I joined, I only knew two of them, and I was acquainted with a third one. I was scared to interact with them until we had a few opportunities to mix with the Kappa Kappa Psis. It took me a while to warm up to some of them, but it was definitely worth it! The KPsis are really nice and extremely funny! They helped make my first Dia fun and safe(I slipped while trying to retrieve the disc golf disc I was using)!

Picture
All of my sisters and really cool! I honestly don’t know where I’d be without y’all! I think y’all are really funny, and all of you are so smart and so talented! Some of y’all helped me out when things got tough or when I just really needed it—during and after MEP—and I have been able to lay my trust with y’all. I have spent some nights with some of y’all, just talking about a variety of topics until maybe three or four in the morning!

Picture
Picture
And some of y’all have given me a lot of good advice throughout the semester! From these experiences, I think I know what sisterhood really feels like! Now that I’ve had a taste of what the sisterhood is like, I’m so glad I can call y’all my sisters!

I noticed that I’ve changed a bit since I became a sister. When I came in, I was a panicky freshman who had very little confidence in herself. I found it hard to talk to new people and I have suffered a few times because of this difficulty. I used to find comfort in people I already knew. I hid behind this cheery, hyper facade because I felt like I had to pretend that I was some outgoing person. Since I joined, I have been conquering my fears every day and I have accomplished so much since I have been attempting to live up to my expectations as a sister of Tau Beta Sigma.

Now, I have no doubt in my mind. I know my decision to accept my bid was the best decision I could ever make, and I would not have it any other way! I love serving the band with y’all, and I can’t wait for the next three years with y’all!

Have a great summer! :D

Putting the 's' in Summer

Hey guys, it’s your webmaster here, BJ (aka Rosemary).  I became a member the spring of 2014 along with the rest of the Spice Girls.  Since I am the current webmaster, I decided to write this week’s blog because, well, I can.  I have two of the best bigs in the world, Kelsey Way and Victor Larson.  Interesting fact, Victor is actually Kelsey’s little brother.  Translation, I am double related to everyone from Kelsey on up.  Yay for complicated family relationships!! Another interesting fact is that in the fall, I am going to be sharing an apartment with Kelsey.  The other girls in my immediate ‘family’ are Leanna Mason and Allison Strictlin, two people that I have a lot in common with and will miss greatly.

My MC class contained some of the most amazing people I have ever met.  Katie was the only one I knew going into it, yet two weeks into MEP we were as thick as thieves.  It was a very long five weeks, to be sure, but having them go through it with me made it easier. I have so many memories from the multiple long nights spent working on stuff together.   Long story short, it was the best five weeks I never want to go through again (a phrase I stole from Elaine).

The rest of the semester after I crossed was rather uneventful.  Now that it is summer, my schedule has changed a lot.  I’m taking Spanish at a local community college in the morning while working at one of the most awesome places in all of Frisco.  What is this place, you ask? It’s the Snowcone Lady, best snowcone join in town (better than Bahama Bucks).  Mary, my boss, has been running it for 32 years now and can I say, I love working there.

Picture
As much as I love summer, I can’t help but look forward to the fall.  Between apartment living, new classes, and football, it is going to be a great time to be at Baylor and to be in Tau Beta.  Its shaping up to be a great summer and a fantastic fall.  I'll see y'all at Baylor Stadium August 31st, for the Baylor vs SMU game.

Until then.

Hey everybody!

My name is Sara and I am the membership educator this semester :) This is my second year at it and, though it is crazy stressful at times, it is so well worth it! We have a great class this semester and I am so proud of them so far!

The MEP really is a group effort and I could not do what I do without all the membership’s help! Everyone just works so hard to help the MCs and I am just so very appreciative!!

This also means that we are all very tired and all get a little silly! I held a photo challenge amongst the sisterhood to see who could achieve the wackiest photo during these crazy days! I still haven’t figured out who should win so comment if you have a favorite!!

And lastly a picture that captures my emotions over the past semester with all the crazy!!

I know...you can just see that “emotional poise” radiating from that photo.

Thanks for reading!!

And Now a Word from Our Big Sisters

Hi!  My name is Kelsey Way and this is a picture of my little BJ with us and her big brother/my little brother Victor Larson.  BJ and I are so alike!  We are both Whovians (Doctor Who fans), we both love dragons, we both love to write, and we both love fantasy things.  For fun, she loves to write books and I always love hearing all of her ideas for her book as she writes them.  When we aren’t spazzing about story ideas, we are spazzing about things in Doctor Who.  I love my family and all of my littles and I am happy BJ is a part of it

Hey everyone, this is Lori!  My little is Morgan Smith and she is Chamomile in the Spice Girls.  I love her so much and she has been so awesome throughout MEP and I can already see how much she has grown.

I can’t even begin to pick a favorite story to tell because we have had a lot of fun times together.  The more we hang out though, the more I see how similar we are and it makes me laugh because we can both be completely ourselves but super silly together! One time we sat in the Ferrell center parking lot for an hour and a half before a courtside game talking and studying and then 15 minutes before call time she realized she had forgotten her horn.  She is also super studious and so one of the first times we hung out was in the BSB until like 2 in the morning.  While it wasn’t an Ideal study time  like big, like little!  She is also short like me, which is great because I don’t feel short(:  But yeah, I love her to pieces and she is super adorable and a complete sweetheart! I am so excited to see what happens the next few weeks with this MC class(:

Picture
Sam and I have a class together and also a lab where we have to deal with this dude that dresses like Marty McFly (I actually think everyone dresses like Marty McFly). While Marty takes the fun out of everything, I very much enjoy having a class with my little as it gives me more opportunities to see how she is doing and what she thinks of the MEP. I learn something new from her everyday:)

Hey everyone! I have a wonderful little sister! Her name is Hannah Hoffman and her MC name is Cinnamon. Their pledge class name is the Spice Girls—isn’t that super creative?! Anyways, they’re a little over halfway done with their MEP and are learning a lot through this process. So far, they have learned a lot about the sisterhood and what it means to be a part of it! They have been working on Tau Beta Sigma songs and singing it for us, which is always super fun to hear! They’re doing a great job working together and my little sister, Hannah, is on top of everything she needs to do! I’m so proud of my little for all that she has accomplished so far!

Here are a couple pictures of Hannah and I!

This was taken at big/little reveal!

This was taken at band banquet the day after big/little reveal!

Hey guys! My name is Kristyn Ottley. I’m a member of the Mouseketeers MC Class that crossed in the Spring of 2013. I was very fortunate to find out that I was blessed with a little brother and a little sister during this MEP!
Picture
My little sister’s name is Megan. She plays trombone, BONESQUAD, and she is literally the greatest person ever! So far during MEP, we have made some pretty amazing memories. The best though has to be when she saved my life. Literally. We were singing at band banquet and I went to back up and I almost fell over a chair and she caught me and stood next to me the whole time, even when everyone else gave me crazy looks and was probably thinking that I’m insane. I could not be happier that Megan is my little sister. I absolutely cannot wait to see what the future holds for us. She is the perfect blend of awesome (bonesquad included) and crazy for me! And she likes Italian food. It was just meant to be, guys.
My little brother is Trevor Lippe. He plays the trumpet and even though he’s older than me, we could not be a better match for big and little. Trevor plays trumpet, which kind of worries me that I have littles from sections that basically hate each other (in a loving kind of way…). Whenever I get to see Trevor during this busy MEP time, we always end up hanging out and talking for way longer than we plan to. I made cookies for him once and we literally sat and talked for 45 minutes about the most random things. Might I add that this was after midnight and it was supposed to be a simple “here are some cookies, I love you, go get homework done”.

Picture
These two are such a blessing in my life. I think I am the luckiest big sister in the entire world. It has barely been three full weeks and I already can tell that these two people will be a part of my life for the length of it, and I could not be more ready for our adventures to continue. I love these two so much already, and everyone should be jealous ;)

Hey y’all! I’m Julianne Six. My MC class knows me as Minnie though, gotta love those Mouseketeers! This semester I am blessed with the best little brother and little sister I could ever imagine! Their names are Zach Jones and Katie Aquilone :) Three weeks in and I can’t imagine anyone better! Katie is a Philosophy major with a minor in music!! Zach is Human Resources major who loves that I am a country girl!
Picture
Picture
So far I think my favorite memory of Zach is when he said after joint reveal that he knew we were a good match because I drive a truck and listen to country music. My favorite memory of Katie is dressing her up for band banquet. She never wears makeup or earrings so I did her up fancy and she was super entertained that her eyelashes were so long! She kept looking in the mirror and opening her eyes wide saying “touch…..touch…..touch” because her eyelashes touched the top of her eyelids! I love them so much and wish them all the best during the rest of MEP!

Picture
My little's name is Marina and I love her so much! It's hard to believe that I've only really known Marina for a month because through all the time we've spent with each other and how much we have in common I feel like we've been lifelong friends! My favorite time with Marina was when I spent the night in her dorm. In between studying for the upcoming membership test and eating we spent much of our time singing and watching pitch perfect, and in case you don't know that's basically my entire being.

My major is Speech Pathology with a minor is American Sign Language Interpretation. I was born and raised in The Woodlands, TX. I have one little sister named Emma. Our MC name is Spice Girls and my individual name is Cinnamon. My favorite color is pink. My main food groups are pizza and Macaroni and cheese, but I can’t stand ice cream. Hi, my name is Megan Land.  My MC name is Nutmeg. I joined Tau Beta Sigma, because I truly love doing service projects. I like helping and being around people in general! I have lived in Texas all of my life, and I am the only person in my family who has an interest in music. I have a little brother, he is in 7th grade, and his name is Jake! I feel that Tau Beta Sigma will help me broaden my horizon!

Hi there!

My name is Eugenie Schieve, I’m from Austin, Texas, and my MC class name is Lavender. I’m a freshman, Environmental Studies major, and a member of Bonesquad.  My favorite TV show is probably a tie between How I Met Your Mother and Scrubs. I would want my patronus to be a bunny. My favorite bad joke is:

How do you make a strawberry shake?
Take it to a scary movie!
I’m so excited to be going through the membership process of Tau Beta Sigma!

Hello!! I'm Morgan Smith or you can call me by my MC name, Chamomile. I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to be a part of Tau Beta Sigma! I've really enjoyed getting to know my MC Class aka the Spice Girls and all of the members of TBS these past few weeks and I look forward to getting to know everyone more and more in the future! I'm from Norman, Oklahoma but I was actually born right here in Waco, Texas, so you could say that I've come full-circle. I can remember going to Homecoming parade and watching the band as they marched by me on the street, and now I get to play the french horn and be a member of the band! I'm a freshman Medical Humanities Pre-Med major with a minor in Spanish and hope to become a pediatrician after medical school. My favorite book is Redeeming Love (seriously just go read it right now) and my favorite TV shows include: Once Upon a Time, Grey's Anatomy, Psych and Downton Abbey. I'm so thrilled to experience all God has in store for me during these next four years at Baylor!

Picture
My name is BJ, and I was born and raised in Oak Ridge, TN. I lived in McKinney, Texas for two years before I came to Baylor.  I am a freshman clarinet player and my major is Journalism-PR.  My MC name is Rosemary (after one of my characters).  Did I mention that I love writing?  I am also a big time Doctor Who fan.
