Sara and her Littles :)

Hi everybody!

I wanted to take a minute to tell you all about my wonderful littles :) I’m very blessed to have them. God gave me the pleasure of having each one of them in my life. They help me out more than they even realize. I would definitely not be where I am today without each one of them. They’ve supported me and helped me carry on through thick and thin, directly and indirectly. Without further ado, here they are!
Picture
This is my little sister, Nicky Arellano! She was a clarinet player until she made the clearly better switch to baritone ;) She’s a geology major and can draw a darn good rock! She went to Kenya this past summer on a very awesome mission/geology trip because she’s super important! She is A LOT smarter than me. She’s wise beyond her years AND she is LITERALLY the sweetest person I’ve ever met ever. Anytime I’m with her I calm down immediately from whatever I’m panicking from, which happens frequently. Her facial expressions are to die for and I love them! If you do not know her, you need to meet her. It’s a must.

This is one of my little brothers, Justin Rice! Here we are working concessions together! He is a clarinet player, but has not made the switch YET ;) He is a history major and knows anything and everything about the topic. He can relate anything to history, which I find truly amazing. His passion is outstanding! Justin is INCREDIBLY dedicated and loving. He will do anything he can for you. I do not deserve him as a little! He is just so thoughtful. He always has a smile on his face and on his heart. It’s impossible not to laugh when you’re around him. Again, you need to meet him. What are you waiting for??
Picture
This is my other little brother, Arthur Torres! This is from this past year’s Southwest District Convention! He is a trumpet player, which is also an awesome instrument (I have to say that now since I switched)! He is a music education major, which means he is freaking amazing on the trumpet. He’s my squad leader this year in marching band! So he gets to hear all my bad playing. He’s tolerating it very nicely :) Arthur is THE most supportive person I’ve ever met. Even though he makes fun of me all the time, I know he is always there for me no matter what! He works too hard for his own good and never gives up! That’s the amazing thing about him, folks! Plus, he is SUPER funny! Now go meet him!

This is one of 2 pictures I have with all three of them! It’s so hard to get these three in the same place at the same time! The one on the far left is one of my grand-littles (I’m so old!!), Joe Guinn! Also a FANTASTIC dude!

They’re all so amazing and wonderful! They’ve really increased not only my Tau Beta Sigma experience, but my Baylor experience. I love each and every one of them SO MUCH.

That’s all I have for now, but keep visiting our blog!

Heather’s Journey to Presidency and Beyond!

When I joined Tau Beta Sigma in Spring 2010, I had absolutely no idea what I was getting myself into. I just knew a girl in band (Brittany Hanley Graham) contacted me via e-mail saying that if I was interested in joining, I needed to meet with her for an “informal interview”. Little did I know that after my informal interview and upon my agreement of a formal interview, I would be starting a lifetime journey into the bonds of sisterhood.

I knew absolutely no one in the organization prior to my first degree, nor did I know any of the girls I would be working alongside to obtain membership in Tau Beta Sigma. I knew I needed friends, and felt my personality fit really well with the members I had met. After I completed first degree and got to know my big sister and big brother, I knew the organization I was joining was special.

My journey in Tau Beta Sigma has so far taken me so many places and has put me in so many different scenarios, that it has helped shape me into the person I am today. I have been blessed through this organization so much through conventions, national conventions, and life-long friendships! Now that I have the opportunity to help chapters in the southwest district, I can start to give back to the people who have given me so much, which include my beautiful sisters in Iota.

The next steps in my life include getting finalizing the 2014 SWD Convention schedule, finalizing Spring Workshops (along with my counterpart, Helen Moore!), and receiving my Bachelors in Music Education on December 21st! It has been an interesting ride so far, and I cannot wait to see what else is in store for my Tau Beta Sigma life :)

Heather
