Hello Friends, Charity here, one of the newer members of our lovely Iota chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, here to tell you about Marching Band service. It’s actually pretty fun! We’ve now experienced three home games, and I was able to participate in service at all of the above, and let me tell you, it’s a different experience, but also really fun. I love doing service it has always been a part of my life, and getting to service a marching band is like home away from home, because I grew up with my dad as my high school band director. |
It was a long day though. I really enjoyed our game at AT&T stadium on Saturday against Texas Tech. As new members of Iota, my class and I are in charge of plumes for the band, now that the band is in full uniform. That was a fun adventure. We woke up nice and early that morning to get all the equipment onto the bus, and we checked, double-checked, and triple-checked to ensure that plumes would arrive in Arlington with the rest of the band. We then got to roll them through a labyrinth of hallways that is the bottom of AT&T stadium, where I proceeded to run into one of the refs….Oops. But it was all good, no injury and the plumes remained safe. The game proceeded with much excitement as we took hold of a firm lead against Tech. Then was time to pass out the plumes, which was so much fun!! The plumes are soft and feathery and it is so cool to feel like you’re helping the band achieve by passing out plumes. But anyway, it was just exciting to start doing marching band service, because it really made me feel like a full-fledged member. Now I have experience and understand another area of our sisterhood, and it is very sweet. I love band and I love Tau Beta and I’m so excited to continue to serve the band and my sisters as the season goes on. |
