This is Not an End but a New Beginning

With this school year coming to a close we have serval lovely sisters who will be starting the first steps of the next part of their journey though life. Though we will miss seeing them day to day we are extremely excited for their futures. Before they go though they wanted to share a few more words with us about what is next and what has been one of their favorite memories while being here and being in TBS.

1. Plans after graduation- after graduation I plan on attending graduate school to obtain my PhD in Environmental Science focused in nanotoxicology at Baylor University. After this I’m thinking about doing a post-doc at a different lab and then seeing where that leads me.
2. My favorite memory in TBS cannot be pinned down to one exact moment, but some of my favorite memories are when Elaine (my big) and I would spend time together. ELAINE I MISS YOU AND LOVE YOU SO MUCH! She really helped me with my transition into college and band. Some of my other favorite memories are the Joint Halloween parties we would have with Kappa Kappa Psi, going to Cameron park to make s’mores, and getting to know everyone and becoming friends with people in TBS, KKPSI, and the band in general. I have made some great friends during my time in band and that is something that I am very grateful for.

Here are some of my favorite photos from my years in TBS 😊                                                 (Marina loves pictures)

Hi y'all! It's been a crazy four years, but unfortunately it all has to end sometime. I plan on going to nursing school after graduation(still waiting on acceptance letter!). My goal is to become a forensic nurse once I get my nursing degree. My favorite TBS memory is of my MC class, The Spice Girls, performing our dance at the last activities night with our thug gear lol!

Hi y’all! After graduation, I will be pursuing a Master of Public Affair at the University of Texas. My favorite memory in TBS would have to be my freshman year, during MEP. We went to the zoo with the KPsi’s, and the goal was for us not to take a picture in front of the Dik-dik. One of the KPsi’s tried to pull me towards the Dik-dik, and I remember the rest of my MC class fighting him off. It was some serious sisterly love!

Hello! My name is Morgan Smith and I am graduating in two weeks with a Bachelor of Arts in Medical Humanities with a minor in Biology. I am not 100% sure what I am doing next year: I will either go to OU College of Medicine (I am on the waitlist) or take a gap year to work as a medical scribe. I can hardly believe that my time as a student at Baylor University is almost over but what an amazing ride it has been! One of the most important parts of my Baylor experience has been the friends and memories I have made through Tau Beta Sigma. My Tau Beta sisters have been with me through thick and thin. I can remember all of their encouragements as I was preparing for the MCAT and then as I was writing my thesis. I have so many fond memories of them: passing out plumes at football games (chickens!!), dancing in our pretty dresses at formals, hanging together at picnics and sisterhood events, and singing our sorority songs… just to name a few! I am so thankful that I decided to join Tau Beta Sigma my freshman year. My sisters have help shaped me into who I am today. “So from today until my rest with my sisters I am best.”

After graduation, I am going to take a year off to live and work in Commerce, TX while my boyfriend Trevor finishes his degree in Environmental Science, after which we will likely take turns going to grad school. He and I have been together for seven years and I am so excited to not be long-distance anymore!
One of my favorite TBS memories is from this year, when the sisterhood went to Cameron Park one night and made s'mores with the MCs, and then the s'more party turned into a spontaneous dance party with music blasting from ShiShi's car.

To all of you, we your Tau Beta Sigma sisters, thank you for what you have contributed to our chapter. Thank you for being there for our tears and being the cause of our laughs. Iota would not be the same without each of your influences. Remember, as you fling your green and gold afar, that when darkness fall and all is night to trust your heart and you will find the light.

Almost There

Hey everyone, Ashley here (aka Hathor from Spring 2016). The school year is coming to end, and time is flying by faster and faster. This past week was Dia! and man, was it a blast. It was such a beautiful day, and I succeeded in spending most of it outside. There was also free crawfish and ice cream sandwiches for the first 500 or so people to show up, which was super cool and I definitely enjoyed that. (I unfortunately did not keep the bib.)

As the year comes to a close, I’ve been able to reflect on the many friendships I’ve made this year, and how my friendships from last year have grown. These past couple of weeks have been spent making plenty of time to hang with friends (and for homework too).
Another exciting thing in my life is I now have a job working at the front desk in Heritage House as an Office Assistant with Campus Living and Learning. I am lucky enough to have the opportunity to continue with this job next year. This is by far one of my favorite jobs I’ve ever had. It’s given me the opportunity to get to know a lot of people in the Fine Arts programs, and I get to see the people in BUGWB on an almost daily basis.

Here’s to the last three weeks of school before summer!

The End is in Sight...But not Really

Hey guys, long time no see! Its BJ (Rosemary, spring 2014) and holy cow, I cannot believe it. Less than four weeks left of the second semester of my senior year. Of course, I still have two classes left so I am graduating a semester late but that’s okay.
This past semester has been insane. I am taking 16 hours, working 10+ hours a week at my internship and averaging about 11 hours a week in the computer lab. Translation, I spend most of my time running around like a chicken with its head cut off.
It has been great, though. I absolutely love the work I am getting to do as the public relations intern for the Central Texas Veterans Research Foundation (talk about a mouthful). I’ve been spending lots of time with my brothers and sisters too. That is part of the reason I am grateful that I get an extra semester to spend with them.
It has been a crazy ride. A few weeks ago, Casey, Alexis and I went to district convention. It was an absolute blast and my third time going. Last year I went and made some cool friends from another chapter that I keep in touch with. Being a member of Tau Beta Sigma has been such a blessing throughout these four years.
As for the future, I have a lot in store. I’ve interviewed with Dwyer Group here in Waco about a PR intern position there, which I am still waiting to hear back about. I also sent in an application to Gearbox Software, since I have been talking to their PR manager, but I still have heard nothing from that. Oh well, I am sure I will figure out something.

In the fall, I am going to be living with this nerd, Casey. She is one of the sisters that I spend WAY too much time with, to the point where I have lost track of who is the bad influence. We get along far too well and half of what we talk about makes no sense to anyone else. We also tend to go into giggle fits over nothing. It’s great. The is the best idea in the history of bad ideas. It’s going to be great.
Well, as nice as it has been catching up I am afraid I have to run. I’ve got a portfolio to finish, a 30-page business plan to work on with my group, a media kit to prepare and a website to build. All in less than a month.
Wish me luck!
