Why did Iota start a blog?
There are a few different reasons for this, so I’ll give you all of them and you can pick your favorite! First of all, we were sending out close to 600 newsletters a semester. That’s a lot of paper, so this is part of an effort to go green! Second, we are trying to move into the 21st century and put our news online. This way we don’t need your address, and you just need to check the blog! Lastly, the national council put a budget cap on chapter dues at this last national convention and we are trying to find ways to make cuts to our budget and the alumni news letter was very expensive.
I don’t have time to check this blog everyday, but I still would like to keep up with Iota. How will I do this?
We have a tab on the top labeled “quick view” and that is our solution for this. We understand that not all of you will want to visit us every day, but we appreciate whatever time your can give to us! Our plan for this tab is to update it a few times a semester with the big bullet points of what is going on in each of our offices and committees. Essentially, this tab will be like a more regularly updated version of the old alumni newsletter.
Another way to keep up with the blog is to follow TBSIota on Twitter!

I am checking the blog now, but what are you going to do about all the people that aren’t going to be checking it before you stop sending the newsletter? How will they know this exists?
The plan is to send out one last alumni news letter, or at least one last note to all the alumni to direct them to this blog. We are not intending on leaving everyone out to dry and hoping they all find this on their own. We will give you all a heads up.
I’m an alumnae of this chapter and I have exciting news! Can I share this with the writer of the blog?
Yes, please do! We would love to update the blog with posts from our alumni! This is about keeping y’all informed with the ongoings in the chapter, and y’all are still sisters in our chapter! If you are recently engaged, married, having a baby, getting a new job, moving, buying a house, or doing anything else that you think is fun and exciting life news that you would like to share with your sisters please send me an email ([email protected]) with a story and/or a picture and I would love to post about it on the blog to share across the sorority.
What if I know of a Beta Alpha (Kappa Kappa Psi) brother that has had something exciting happen to them? Can I share that as well?
Sure, we love our brothers! Refer to the answer above and follow the same instructions.
Who writes the blog?
Many of the blog posts are written by members of the sisterhood. They send in stories to the Web Master (Kristin Cook), and she posts them on here and lets the whole world know about them!
If I notice a typo or a grammatical error should I freak out and ask y’all to quit the blog and go back to the alumni news letter forever? I HATE TYPOS!
Please don’t do this. You can however send me an email ([email protected]) with the correction and I will try my hardest to go and correct it, but I may not have time to correct every small typo. The way this blog works is every entry will go through at least two people before it gets posted. Hopefully this way most of the big typos get weeded out.
Is this blog only for Iota Alumnae?
Of course not! The idea for the blog came out of the alumni newsletter, but then we decided we could also promote our blog to other audiences as well. We figured our parents could use it to see what we are up to during the year, our rushees could use it to see how awesome we are (and how modest), and other chapters can use this to see what other normal chapters do. We are really hoping we can get other chapters involved and use this as a resource! We want to reach out and see what questions other newer or small chapters have about the new budget or rushing issues and try to address them here on our blog. Sometimes big issues seem impossible to handle on just a chapter level, or it feels like you are the only chapter that’s ever had to deal with it. We want to show y’all that we’ve been there too! And, we are also thinking about reaching out to some of the district officers and national officers and doing some Q&A’s for the blog to have on here. Basically, the idea is to just get as many people to be checking out this blog as possible.
I have a real question. Can I send it to you and have it end up on this page?
Why not! Just label it as an FAQ and I’ll add it to this page.
