Leanna's Last Undergrad Homecoming

10/29/2013

Hello! This is Leanna (again)!

I just wanted to share a little bit about my homecoming experience from this past weekend!!

My mom actually surprised me and came up for the weekend! It was really nice to be able to share my last undergrad experience with her by my side!

The alumni mixer was super awesome! I got to meet one of my distant distant bigs! :)  Though it was crazy buying stuff, setting up, and working pigskin, it all seemed to work out! (Thanks Chelsea :D)

Though all the typical homecoming festivities were enjoyable, the most memorable experience was marching pregame and playing the Baylor Line. It was so hard for me to believe that next year I will be standing up in the stands, raising my  bear claw, and not on the field with my family. Thankfully, I know I am not alone!  You all have been there and If you haven’t yet, your time will come faster than you imagine it will. Cherish every moment you have and live in the present. Your time at Baylor will be over faster than you ever thought it could! Enjoy it!!! :)

While waiting, we decided to take fun pictures :) The alumnae made me feel so loved! I can't wait to be a part of the alumni band next year :)

Chelsea Middleton: "How do sororities take pictures now-a-days? Let's try it!"
Haha... We look so awkward! Especially me with my 5'2" self next to Lauren :D

Sic 'em IOTA :3

Needless to say, I think I'm still on a homecoming high :) I loved getting to see all the alumnae (especially my big sister!). As a JA 2 years ago, I didn't care much for the Homecoming traditions of catching up with alumni, but I'm definitely starting to appreciate it more now that I actually know people who are alumni. :D

As webmaster, I definitely tweeted a lot during the Homecoming weekend, so shout out to Kim who took pictures for me when my phone died in the second quarter of the game :3 If you haven't already, please follow TBSiota on twitter to get updates for blog posts & to see how the sisterhood is doing :3

I can't wait to be considered an alumna next Homecoming & enjoy all the festivities that normal alumni get to experience during Homecoming weekend :3

PS: In case you missed it (or want to watch it again), check out our Homecoming halftime performance :3 The fun starts at around 5:30

Homecoming Information

Hello Alumni!

My name is Taylor and I am a member of the history committee this semester along with Kathryn Dunn and our History Chair, Jenny Bates. We all know that this particular day has been historically busy for all involved in it. This year we decided to make all the information you need to know about Homecoming available to you online for your convenience! This way, you’ll know what’s going on from the get-go and always have a copy!

In case you didn’t know yet, Homecoming is November 5th! We’ll be playing (and destroying) Missouri at Floyd Casey Stadium. Be expecting an invitation in the mail from us very soon. GET EXCITED! Below is a schedule for game day:

8:30am Homecoming Parade

1:30pm Band Practice

4:00pm Dinner

7:00pm Kick Off

Also the annual Homecoming Iota/Beta Alpha Alumni Mixer is the Friday night before homecoming (11/4)!! Meet us outside of Recital Hall II 30 minutes after the Bonfire! This is located on the left side of Waco Hall if you are looking at it from front entrance.  We will be meeting outside of the building, so just walk around the grassy area.

Try to wear your rec bars or membership pins (if you still have them) this weekend - whichever you can find.  This way the active members can pick y'all out of the crowd.

If there are any changes to the schedule, the blog will be updated ASAP. Iota cannot wait to see all of our beautiful alumni on one of the most exciting days of the year for Baylor University! See you soon!
