A few weeks ago, early on a cold and rainy Saturday morning, the sisterhood got together to serve the community with fellow service organizations and volunteers. The kick-off celebration that morning with breakfast, live music and more was organized by Morgan, one of our own, and it was a great way to start the morning (who doesn't love free tacos and coffee?). The above picture was taken there, with Ken Starr and the majority of the TBS members that were serving that day. After that, we still had an hour to kill before heading to our site, so we went to Shipley's and had some laughs together as we ate our donuts and kolaches. By the time we arrived at our site, a church where we would help spread mulch on a preschool playground, the pouring rain had gone down to a wimpy drizzle, and it was a little warmer outside. This was really lucky because we had two giant piles of mulch to shovel that day, at least three times our height and very wide around the base. We worked with a couple of other organizations, and a couple of girls I got to talk to were really cool. One wanted to be a special education teacher, and she had encouraging things to say the whole time, even when most of us were sore and getting blisters from shoveling, raking and wheelbarrowing. Another girl was a former color guard member who told us about her adorable nieces that she was about to see after service was done for the day. By the end of our service time at 3:00, the playground was covered and our shovels had eaten through a pile and a half of mulch. It was admittedly difficult towards the end of the time because most people were sore and hungry, but we had done some good work and were able to talk to people we otherwise wouldn't have seen, so they were hours well spent.

I also had the honor of being chosen as Tau Beta’s homecoming nominee, which I was so thrilled about! It turned out to be a lot more work that I expected, what with interviews, photo shoots, and questionnaires (and walking across that stage was absolutely terrifying!), but it was still an amazing experience. Even though homecoming didn’t go quite as planned and the parade got cancelled, it was still a super fun weekend. If anything, my senior homecoming was definitely my most memorable one! I’m glad that I got to experience it with my best friends and sisters :)
